I remember it now; we were walking through the busy streets of Phuket when I saw an older man who sold fortunes. He read my palm and asked for my birthdate. He looked at me and laughed softly, then said: “most women wish for a prince, but only a few care whether he built his throne”…
I thought I knew right away what he meant. Honestly, I didn’t give it much thought at the time. I smiled and asked, “Well, what should someone like me do?” He replied, “Marry a carpenter”…
I never really understood the truth behind his possibly meaningless words.
Only now, I see that the taller my branches become, the stronger my roots must be.
None may be more familiar to my wild than a woodcutter,
& none more protective of my fiery nature.
